That's very interesting Roger, thankyou :)

I wonder why they never seem to have more than one of these discount supermarkets in close proximity then (or not that I am aware of) if they are direct competitors, such as Tesco/Asda/Morrisons et al do.

I've shopped in all three at some point, in different parts of the country, and found them to be fairly similar in layout and stock etc which is why I assumed they were all owned by one company :o

  • Yes, Kwik Save used to use a very similar layout, too

I guess it's the standard "not a great selection, but very low prices" store design of choice these days
Thanks to all who post constructively.

  • Yes, that's true, I'd forgotten about Kwik-Save. What put me off using these type stores was the way they shove you through checkout as fast as possible and you're not allowed to pack stuff into bags as they are put through.

I also encountered some very rude staff on check-out because shopping was building up on the tiny counter whilst I was still emptying my trolley at the other end. Definitely a 2-man job if you have a trolley full!

I found the whole experience very stressful and it didn't do much for my anxiety/panic attacks so I just stopped going in the end, which is a shame as they have some good products at low prices :(
