  • In the Sun P C World have got a laptop for £299.99. My wife rang up to reserve one but was told she would have to reserve it online. It was not on there so she could not do this. She rang our local store and they did not know any thing about it but they had them in stock and if she took the add in they would give her the laptop at the price in the add.

  • I have a £1500 Rock laptop and my wife has the EI one from PC world. She paid £349 and got a good bag, mouse and 50 blank dvd's. We sit side by , connecting to a wireless network and there is no difference doing average tasks. Ok its not an out and out games machine etc but for a starter you cannot go wrong.

Hi, I am looking for a cheap laptop - does anyone know if its worth waiting till after christmas - are they likely to come down in price in January?
Usually I'd say yes - but I think with the launch of vista after christmas there will be some clearances while retailers make room for the new products with vista in january. Prices are likely to be more expensive with the launch of vista as people rush to buy it. So maybe it will be worth finding offers now. Especially as personally I think vista is a waste of time (just uses valuable resources for rendering the graphic windows which should be used for processing!)

I've just picked up one of these for £359.98 (Normally £389.98) I saved an additional £30 thanks to a £20 Voucher from Dabs, Cashback from QuidCo and it was free delivery last weekend.

Acer Aspire AS5051AWXMi AMD Turion MK-36 512MB 60GB DVDRW XPMediaCentre

    Has everything:
    Wireless LAN
    Bluetooth
    DVD DL R/W Drive
    60GB Hard Drive
    Decentish Graphics

Only thing that lets it down is the 512MB Memory especially with shared Graphics memory so chucked in another 512MB I had spare and it runs a treat. Ideal for a first Laptop for the wife for Chrimbo.
