                    Hi
I payed my Post Office credit card bill over a week ago but it only got to them on the 30th of Dec when it was due on the 29th of Dec.
Will this be marked as a late payment or do they give a bit of extra time at Christmas ?
I ask this because I got an email from Barclaycard and they put my due date back by 3 days over Christmas.
Im also looking to get a mortgage soon and I have not had any late payments for over 4 years now.

Why are people surprised when bank holidays delay payments?0

Jolly decent of Barclaycard - hadn't heard of anyone else doing that so doubt whether PO will.
Since you are only one day late, they might refund charges if you are nice to them.
Whether the account has been reported as late to a CRA depends on when their reporting date is. The usual way it works is that a report is made once a month and the state of the account as at that date is reported. Therefore you might "get lucky" and it will go unnoticed from a CRA point of view.
Else it's tough - you say "a week ago". But that would have been Sunday 26th? Then there were two bank holidays... so it wouldn't have gone out until Wednesday 29th - the due by date.0

I ho, i ho direct debit we all should try to go and stop blaming the cc provider.0

            Thanks for your reply ChattyChappy.
As for the other two posters.
 1.
I didn't say anywhere that I was suprised that the payment didn't reach them on time.
 2.
Im not blaming the cc company, it was my fault that I didn't send it earlier.

I agree re direct debit. My monthly payment was taken out a week ago and I haven't recieved the credit card statement yet - must have been posted at least a month ago now. If I hadn't had direct debit there is no way I would have known what to pay. Most definately the easiest way to goI am a Mortgage Adviser

These threads always end with "should have signed a DD" type comments.
No need for DD. Plenty of threads where people have got into a mess with them too. When they go wrong the costs can be even higher.
They work for some, but they are not a panacea. They'd certainly make my life more complicated.
Suggest the OP waits a month and then gets a statutory report from the main CRA (£2 a go). See what was reported (if anything). Good idea anyway if you're applying for a mortgage - in case there are any errors there. Don't pay anything for "scores" though.0

            OP
You'd be expected to meet the due date on the last statement -whenever that was. Anything that comes in after that would be clased as late. CC provider would expect you to take account of bank holidays etc. However, as another poster said, if you have a good record with them, you may find a phone call gets a sympathetic response. They aren't obliged to help out though and I know my cc provider refused to help with a situation out of my control recently, even though I've an excellent repayment record. Best of luck. No harm in trying!0

Perhaps for clarity you should have stated that the payment was sent late.
 Thanks for your kind words.
