Hi,
I know this board is the the hub of 'thrift' so I wondered if you could help me.
I am doing a party tea for my Daughters birthday for 8 of them - it is sort of in the style afternoon tea with cocktails so have any of you any ideas for food?
Cost is paramount and I cant cook/bake. I was thinking jelly, sandwiches, crisps etc. the norm.
But I thought members on here may have some wicked ideas that I can do on the cheap.
Wanting to spend about £10 -15.
TIA

Cocktail sausages, sausage rolls, pizza. It is maybe worth checking out your local supermarket they might have a lot of party food reduced now the festivities are over.
With the cakes asda do plain smart price fairy cakes 12 for about 45p you could boy them and ice them along with a packet of smart price digestives about 30p some cheap jam and make empire biscuits kids love them. Depending on their age you could even suggest they decorate them themselves. Enjoy hope it goes well.0 -
Tea party & cocktails make me think of the older style / more elegant / quieter types of parties. Little girls being posh and no chicken nuggets or pizza in sight. Cake stands & Napkins/ Tablecloths. All sorts of 'dainty' nibbles lol, Sandwiches quartered , fruit cocktail & Jelly in a cup/ glass - so individual portions. little sponge cakes/ scones with cream & jam.
My littlist is an Audrey Hepburn fan - we have had to have 2 Breakfast at Tiffany type "posh" parties!Grocery Challenge - Jan £4.42/£200.00

mmm having just read Breakfast at Tiffanys I can't imagine having a kids party on that theme!!
However I'd def go with dainty/ mini versions of stuff - tiny sarnies with the crusts cut off - cream cheese and cucumber, ham. If you have some pretty glasses or have a nan who could lend some sherry glass you could do tiny trifles or mini fruit jellies in them.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
