'Long Term' rental

Good morning, and a belated Happy New Year to all.
Just a quick question: I may need to rent a house or flat shortly, and when viewing properties on Rightmove I notice that there is a filter for 'Long Term' rentals.
What does this actually mean? Does the landlord wish to rent the property for a few years? Or just longer than the usual 6 months?
Sorry, do not know much about renting property - have not rented for donkey's years.
Any help appreciated...

6 months or more for long term.0

I'd take any filter on RM with a huge pinch of salt because LLs lie to EAs, LLs can change their minds or circumstances change -and- EAs really skimp when they put rental details online.
Your idea of "long term" and theirs might also mean something different.0 -
I agree with PN's comments
A 6-12 month term is "short term" in many T's eyes = many Ts would welcome the opportunity to not have to move on a regular basis.
It may simply mean that the let is a via BTL LL rather than a house which is also currently on the market, with an accidental LL trying to have his cake and eat it too. Or it may mean nothing at all.
If you haven't rented for a long time you may want to check out those stickies up at the top of the main HBR&S board.0
