Will a missed payment affect my credit rating much?

I have a Virgin credit card that is nearly at the end of its 0% promotional rate. I have a balance on there that I'd like to transfer to another 0% card. Stupidly I was late with my payment last month and paid it a few days late, incurring a late payment fee. This is the only time I've ever missed a payment and my credit rating should be fine - I don't owe much apart from my mortgage and I always (apart from that one blip) pay on time. Will the missed payment make it harder for me to get a 0% card if I apply in the next month or so?
Thanks
Thanks

one late payment shouldnt make any difference.0

You might also want to check whether the 0% offer has been withdrawn. If it has then call MBNA who underwrite the Virgin card and plead with them to reinstate.
MBNA offer deals to current cardholders on a regular basis so it is quite a good card to hold onto.0 -
I missed two late payments on two different cards for two consecutive months at the end of 2009 - my own fault so no complaints there. (Yes I now pay all by DD before anyone suggests!). Neither of these showed on my credit report and I successfully applied for two different cards a few months later.
That said, I've never ever missed a payment before and have always made at least minimum payments.0 -
Thanks all. I did lose my 0% offer, not complaining it's in the T&C, but just got accepted for the Barclaycard 17 month 0% offer so no problems. Needless to say I'll be paying by direct debit from now on!0

for fear of the "should sign a DD squad" pouncing?
It sounds like good advice to me.
Is good advice banned now??0 -

"should sign a DD" is good advice for people that miss payments.
You seem to be complaining ("pouncing") about people offering this advice, when it sounds entirely appropriate to me or have I got it wrong?0 -

Why don't you help us/me out here??
I'm not trying to be picky or nasty, but get to the bottom of what you said.
If I don't understand it, then chances are others don't either.
Are you saying it's bad to pay by DD?0
