Who is responsible for gas pipes and meter box

I dont see why a meter box would be 24 metres away from the house. Was there originally another building near were the meter currently is?
The issue may be the distance between the meter and ECV and the house in the even of an emergency.
Just found this in a boiler manual:IMPORTANT.less than 15mm O.D.
Installation pipes MUST be fitted in accordance with BS. 6891.
In IE refer to I.S.813:2002. Pipework from the meter to the boiler
MUST be of an adequate size, i.e. no longer than 20m and not
Looks like there is a 20m limit from meter to boiler.
The current boiler is located at the back of the property in an extension and the meter box is located in the front garden, half way down the drive!!
The property is very old and hasn;t been touched so there are new things cropping up every day!!! Moving the boiler closer to the meter box has put other ideas into our head, thanks for the advice.
Any other ideas are very welcome, we're new at this property development!!!0 -
I got SGN to pipe gas to my nephews flat (he didn't have any). Didn't cost a penny.
As supply was replacing inefficent heating system they said they'd do it for free - some government scheme.
But you could approach your gas supplier and ask them to give a price as the meter belongs to them NOT you. If that doesn;t
bring much joy, you could ask SGN for quote for a NEW supply. Again the price of this should be capped.
Worth phoning them back and asking about replacement supply for inefficent heating system.0 -
SGN did gas supply to my nephews flat for FREE
They dug up the road, path and they reinstated. ALL FOR NOTHING.
His flat didn't have any gas. Ask them about a new supply to replace inefficent heating system.
Gas meter belongs to your supplier NOT YOU - so it is the responsibility of your supplier to make sure it complys.
SGN also gave my nephew £250 towards his new central heating system!
Ask them to quote for NEW supply.0 -
i would say that in effect that is what they have quoted for.0
