If so, are there any good places to explain how the heck it all works?:D
I have a registered domain and the DNS record resolves to Google Apps, but I'm well confused on how Sites, Mail, etc. should be used.

I use google apps,
If everything's registered ok then
to check your email goto http://mail.google.com/a/<your domain name>
just change the first part to the service you are looking for:
i.e.
For google Website : sites.google.com/a/<Your domain name>
For Google Calendar: calendar.google.com/a/<your domain name>
To manage everything "google" with your domain visit
https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/<your Domain name>/DashboardLaters
