Portaventura Hotel & Park

Looking at going to Portaventura during the Easter holidays with a 3 & 8 year old. Has anyone been and / or stayed at the Portaventura hotel.

Any comments or suggestions welcome.

Hi yes book it now you will not be disappointed. We have been 5 times and stayed at all the hotels except golden river and we are going there in the may half term. The on site hotels are excellent. My favourite is the Caribe - small blocks of rooms all round 2 walk in pools (with sand round them). Has a large deck area. Can walk to Salou approx 15 mins, 10 mins walk to park (but there is a train bus every 10/15mins). Not sure if the full waterpark is open at Easter and I dont think the beachclub is. The park is huge and has loads of rides my 2 are aged 8 and 12 (have been going for a few years though).
The food at the hotel is fab, the evening buffet is the best we have had loads of choice for adults and kids very clean and nicely set out.

I think the Elpaso hotel is all inclusive now - it is about 10 mins walk from the caribe hotel we walked down to it to watch the entertainment for a change a couple of nights (also has a big hedge maze my children like) and we got free drinks at the bar even though we didnt have armbands on. Also the drinks are very small and the queues at the bars were large - not sure it is worth the extra money and hassle unless you like a good drink.

Can't think of anything else - booked mine via internet direct holidays a subsidiary of Thomas Cook I think - were the cheapest I could find.

Need any more info please ask.
  • yes we've been twice and loved it. We've stayed at Portaventura and El Paso. I can't remember how old my DD2 was the first time she went, maybe 4, but she was small for her age and there were quite a few rides she couldn't do, which limited us a bit. Good idea to scout out what there is for which family members so everyone can enjoy.
  • We've been to Portaventura twice for Haloween, and would happily go again. fantastic park and hotels, can't recommend them highly enough. We stayed at the hotel Caribe and booked through alpharooms with a cheapy flight to Reus.

There was always a good selection of food and it was great for the kids. As mentioned before do check the opening times, the waterpark was open the first time we went but not the second.

When we stayed there you got free fast passes for the rides included with the tickets from the hotels which meant you didn't have to queue so much, not sure if this is still the case but they were really good for impatient children in hot weather.

Some of the costumed characters from the park came and visited the hotels to meet the children in the morinings and evenings , it depends if you appreciate this kind of thing but my kids thought this was great.

We always felt really well looked after at the hotel especially on our second visit when our young son came down with an ear infection after arrival, the hotel took us by car to the onsite medical centre and quickly got us some medication, they were so helpful and it was all complimentary.

    hope this helps.
