  • I have no problem with this site, my friends in Nigeria just adore the quality of their goods

Freda gets about twenty pairs for that price pal, what are you buying?
  • It is a scam site - I've just been stung. I thought I was a savvy internet shopper but bought my daughter a hoodie for her birthday from this site. There is no suggestion that the site is in China - the first that I knew of it was when the shipping email tracked the goods to there. The shipping costs on the proper site were so high (£20!!!) that I assumed that it was the US site and that fake one was the UK one as the price was the same but the shipping was free.

The hoodie is clearly counterfeit (being wrapped up in a black bin bag and having no returns details were a give away!) and I have emailed Hollister for confirmation. Any advice on what I can do to recover the £42.50 I paid. I spoke to Mastercard who weren't that interested and said that they cannot help me recover the money (I've stopped that card to be really safe and avoid any further charges). Does anyone know if I can try chargeback - I don't really know much about it or how to go about it.

    Thanks
    Mavie
  • I ordered 3 tshirts from hollisteruk/name which is also a scam sight, I did receive 3 tshirts from a company in China but not Hollister ones. The site looks totally authentic and when I checked my Mastercard bill a company called Muse Trading had taken my money. I contacted Hollister and they said that they would pass it on to the appropriate business team. I would have thought that these sights could be taken down fairly quickly, but it's still out there!

I've just tried to go onto the dodgy site (to see whether I really missed a big clue that it wasn't what it seemed) and it has been closed down!!! It looks like there is some sort of legal action going on in the US but, annoyingly, it looks like it was started in January yet the site was still up and running in April. I gave up with Mastercard and have no idea whether compensation will be available through the legal action in the US.

As with vaughanrachel it was Muse Trading that took the money.

The fake Hollister site actually said that they did not sell authentic goods ! You need to trawl through the terms and conditions to find it but we did. If you buy stuff from a fake website and they actually advise that they're not genuine then you'll struggle to dispute this with your CC issuer. They may be able to dispute it if there was no physical address on the website but if it's now been closed down you'll struggle to prove this also. We've been dealing with this website for months now (since just before xmas) and disputing transactions through Visa, most of which have been successful, ask your CC issuer what their stance is, not all will be willing to help you. Don't hold your breath for any compensation, best to put it down to experience and do your research before shopping on t'internet !!
