Hi people, I am just wondering if there are any prepay mastercards that I can load with dollars from my US dollar bank account and not have to convert the dollars to pounds and then back to dollars which all of them I have found so far seem to do which is ridiculous.
I have found one so far called entropay but they want to charge 3.95% to charge the card.
I'm not sure what the best soution is here but any advise would be much appreciated.
thanks
Paul

I would imagine they are obtainable in the US. Getting one here would be the problem.
But why do you need one if you've got a US$ bank account? Just use its debit card.0 -
Hi thanks for the reply, I need the card because I am in Afghanistan working and get paid in dollars and only have a visa debit card. Unfortunately Afghanistan does not take visa and I am wary of using a debit card here. So a prepay mastercard is the only way for me I think.
If you know of any way I can do this I'd be very grateful.
thanks

I've just found out that the card I ordered from entropay is actually 4.95% on recharges so what do you think would cost more, pay the currency exchange twice or the 4.95% ?

I was recently given a gift of a $100 dollar Mastercard (Vanilla, if that matters) prepaid-credit card. However, when I try to use it to buy things online, I get an error (the number is wrong). However, I've checked and I'm putting the number in right! What gives?0

Yes, I've used it offline and it has about $36 left on it.

Yeah Ive looked into the prepay cards in the US but I need a social security number in all the ones I've seen. I have got a US mailing address I can use as I am on a US military base but the SSN is the problem.0

@peter I think the reason yor vanilla card doesnt work online is because there is no address registered to it so its only usable for point of sale or atm withdrawals.0
