Carpet underlay? which type?

I have just laid 60sqm of cloud 9, 11mm foam, very impressed, ebay £168 delivered.0

Most carpet shops subcontract out their fitting services to a local fitter so most of the time i doubt the carpet fitter will have an issue fitting whatever underlay you supply ...whether you bought it from the shop you buy the carpet from or not.
Our price is all in, including underlay, door plates and all grippers. I think the fitters are actually employed by the shop, it's a local family firm, though maybe the fitters aren't necessarily family.0 -
we bought cloud 9 cirrus 9mm underlay from carpets direct online, very pleased with with it 31.99 a roll excl vat (last year so price may have changed), excellent service,0

Thanks everyone. With the cloud 9 underlay (in fact any non rubber backed ones) do you have to fix it to the floor first? Or is it held in place by the carpet?:rotfl:0

I stapled it in place.0

Warning to anyone buying Cloud 9 Underlay. We had it laid in our Lounge/Dining room, Stairs, landing and main Bedroom in 2008. I began to experience unexplained headaches and nausea from time to time, we finally realised it was the underlay. After taking it up we naively thought that the problem would be gone but the smell/chemicals had permeated the concrete floor downstairs and into the chipboard floorboards upstairs. As I type we are still struggling to get rid of the odours which are out gassing from our floors. I have been extremely unwell and have never had such severe nausea in my life. If you think you have chemical allergies then steer well clear of this product.0
