Only a small thing but I have to say that I thought that a couple of members of staff offered fabulous customer service yesterday evening.
I relaised that I had no cream (needed to home-make peppermint creams) so went to my nearest store at around 6:00pm (they were open until 7, I think).
The cream had ended up in the reduced section of the fridges so I grabbed some for 20p ( - plus a pot of natural yoghurt and 6 muller lights for about £1); and noticed some (usually overpriced) bacon and cheese tear and share bread that a friend would like. There were no yellow stickers so I thought I would take one and check.
The assistant on the self-scan tills firstly tried to fob me off, suggesting that someone had dumped it there - but when I told her that there was a shelf full she (a little reluctantly) got a "runner" to go and take a look. I waited for her to return and she did, saying that it still wasn't clear so more checking had to be done. After a good few minutes, she came back again to tell me that yes, they were reduced. Then, as an aside to her colleague, she said the shelf had been cleared in a heartbeat once the markdown was apparent (even though the store was very quiet) and as I said that was a shame, I would have got more, a couple went past with four packs in their trolley and smiled and handed one to me.
I think half the issue here was that I didn'tt get ratty with the staff even though there was a fair bit of hanging about. It seems to make all the difference so I guess a NY resolution of mine should be less stamping of feet and being grumpy.
Happy New Year to Sainsbury's (for this anyway, the rest of the time - remains to be seen....)
