Argos refund problems

Hi there,

new to this forum so appoligies if I am posting this in the wrong location, the problem we have is my wife ordered a bed from Argos back in October and they said it would be delivered near the end of that month which we thought was ok. They then contacted my wife to say that it would be delayed and delivered in the beginning of November which we could not understand. But then my wife had a call in November to say it wouldn't be delivered until end of December which we found totally unexeptable. My wife then rang Argos to say that she was unhappy with this delivery date as my 5year old daughter was getting upset as she thought she was getting her bed in October. Argos then said no problem we will refund the money and this was in the beginning of December as far as I can remember. Seven days later still no money in our bank account at this point I phoned up argos as my wife was getting very upset. The nice lady on the phone said yes the money has been transferred to your account and should be in your account by now. So we checked with our bank and found out no money had been paid in from Argos. I then phoned back up a few days latter and the lady on the phone said the same thing yes the money has definately been transferred to your account. At this point of the month now near the middle of December we were reliying on this money for Christmas so I phoned up on the 14th December as asked what was going on as I was promised that this money had been paid in. A fews days latter my wife had a call on her mobile from Argos apologizing and there had been a mistake and the money had not be tranferred to our account after all. My wife and I were now fumming with this I can't believe a large company like Argos can be some incompident. It is now 1st of January 2011 maybe Argos can do better this year. I have also called Argos again today to say that this is being dealt with but we will believe it when the money goes into our account.

If anyone could offer us any advice or knows anyone who could speed up the process we would be grateful. Rant over :mad:

  • Not really like everyone else at christmas we have had to go into our overdraft, we are very annoyed with Argos, please let me know if anyone has had similar problems with Argos or is it just us.

    Think I would go into Argos with ref number and demand a refund if you kick up a fuss they will give it you to get you out ........ but I would not have
    waited this long .....................good luck
  • Thanks very much puppy I will be doing this if the money isn't in our bank this week, as I feel Argos have had long enough to sort this problem out now. I phoned them up again and got told that there was a problem because it got mis-keyed which I can only assume this means somebody didn't type in the correct details on there database. Also found this freephone number to call on 0800 0850565 incase anyone has similar issues with Argos and u actually get through to a human being straight away and not an automated machine.

  • Argos are !!!!!!s for getting money back off them from my experiance..3 years ago i ordered 800 quid of furiture during sale computer went down they said it not gone though so did sale again promised no money would have been taken as transcation didn't complete!!
    well week later i noticed one lot had come out bank but i also had another 800quid put aside on account cut long story short argos had put both though but only one had totally gone though..bank couldnt release funds without argos say so...2 weeks it took to sort out and a lot of shouting in store and a manager saying to me it was only 800 quid..i not repeat what i said but i will say this they sent me 40 quid in vouchurs for hassle i cancelled whole order and told them i never shop with them and to this day i only been in to spend vouchors

    Oh dear, another did not get the absolution they preyed for and has decided to go away. I hope they do not think Freddie is at fault though, I am on a yellow for the odd spot of < Insert Scotts for Stupid Person Here > spotting in recent times.

    One should note it took less than an hour in this instance

    i dont think shouting was needed

    OP remember to stay calm when talking to argos as they are more likely to be calm towards you and sort it out for you
