If the terms and conditions don't state that there is a set time to use the prize within can they actually then tell you that you have to use it by a set date? Not had this happen but i'm noticing that quite a lot of comps don't actually have anything about a 'use by date' in the t&c's or a mention of blackout dates but when people actually win they are often told that they have to use it by a certain date. Do terms and conditions have to mention these things or can they kind of 'add' them afterwards?2008: £783.12 - 2009: £6,401.15 - 2010: £4,230.61 - 2011: £8720 - 2012: £2,041.89

I've had 2 tonight  despite using my mobile number for 99% of the comps. One was from Online PC Help??! They got told to bog off
and the other from an 0800 number which when I Googled it seems to be some marketing rubbish

Ok...have a question because I am a bit of a worry wart and obviously want to get things right...coz it means you're more likely to win! lol
When there are comps that have say a list of answers e.g either a), b), c) or numbered equivalent and you have to type the answer into a box rather than tick an answer...should you type the a) ???? or just the ???? if you see what I mean?? lol and along the same lines when you enter email comps and they require an answer that came from a multiple choice list do you type the a) or just the answer??
I was wondering because these forms on sites for example Company's comps http://www.company.co.uk/sweepstakes/16257 I was thinking..if they get thousands of entries surely they don't read them all to make sure people have the right answer...they must have a piece of programming script written that will look for the right answer in a specified box..but if you put in the a) as well as the answer will the script then disregard that as it isn't what it has been told to look for??
I hope you get what I mean I have a tendency to babble and not make much sense! :huh:0 -
Evening all
Had a missed call from an unknown number about an hour ago, has anyone had any marketing calls tonight? So annoyed that I might have missed a win! Prob wasn't anyway lol!
Vicks xxI had a call from an unknown number earlier...it was asking if I had received my mercedes benz brochure (which I haven't)! Must be related to a comp because I wouldn't randomly request a brochure!I've had 2 tonight  despite using my mobile number for 99% of the comps. One was from Online PC Help??! I had 2 automated message calls today - you know the ones "do not hang up....have you or your family blah blah" hung up straight away
Then I had simply health with daily mail trying to sell me health insurance - really pushy, told him in no uncertain terms I did not want it and said goodbye!
I rarely get sales calls so it is odd there have been 3 'off' call in one day!
hopefully next will be a WTC! xJo x2007:£5181.09 2008: £6619.70 2009: £4284.49 2010: £5213.14 2011: £4980.62 2012: £3188.52

Sorry if I have posted in the wrong area, I am new to comping and this site (tell you the truth, I am struggling to use this site.. need to get a bit more used to it..)
Anyway on to my question..
I use google chrome and I have the autofill on.
Does this disqualify you from comps? As I have been avoiding using
it lately as I am not sure?Hoping for some lucky dust!0 -

I alway's type a). b,) c), (online comps and email comps) unless they specifically just ask for a letter as in some of the ITV comps
I'm sure there will be many on here that don't do the above and they will tell you that they have won loads of prizes
to be quite honest I don't think that it makes a lot of difference as if they use software to filter out the correct answers they will probably only look for the main part of the answer as in a) correct
I'm very pedantic in my comping that's why i always type a), b), etc and I always follow what the comp requires to a T
hope that this in some way answers your question
Best of Luck0 -

Good point! I would imagine there would be a clause in it somewhere to say when to use by. Probably they'll send 'extra' t&c's out when booking. I've not used my £250 voucher off Cornwall yet that I won & was wondering if I would also lose it ..say, if I didnt book sometime this year.
I understand promoters may change their t&c's when neccessary.Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0 -

Some comps tell you they just want A, B, C etc. but with most I am sure it doesn't matter at all.
If you think of the company running the comp, there is no need to filter out the incorrect answers at all. They will just pick one entry and if the answer is right that is the winner. If it is wrong they will pick another and so on. They will probably also pick some 'reserve' winners in case the first one doesn't respond. They only need to filter out (and sometimes disqualify) duplicated entries.0 -
Hey everyone,
I posted in the 'Game Over' thread last week asking for advice/opinions on a British Airways travel photography competition I entered online last year, the winner of which was supposed to be announced in November but instead they removed all trace of the competition from their website and have stopped responding to my emails about it! It's all very mysterious. No-one replied in the 'Game Over' thread and I'm thinking perhaps I should have posted here where conversations about competitions are still continuing. Is it ok if I copy & paste it here? I'd really like some advice.
Thanks!0
