Which is the best modem router: the Netgear DG824M, or the Netgear DG834G?

My reason for asking. Over the past six or eight weeks I've had ongoing problems with the DG824M, these issues have been resolved over the holiday period, and probably amounted to no more than a dodgy cable and some incorrect settings.
Anyway a colleague has given me a Netger DG834G and before starting to re-hide all the wires I'm trying to decided which router to use.
I appreciate that in regards to this type of hardware 'best' is probably a relative term so if I outline my basic setup then advice may be more relevant. My router sits upstairs and I normally connect to my laptop from my sitting room via homeplugs. The homeplugs are 200mbps . Upstairs I have a Dell 1600n lazer printer connected directly to the router. That's the height of my network. It's basic home use: blogging, emails and of course visiting here
, no X-Boxes or things of that nature. I use Windows 7 Home on a relatively new laptop.

Well, the DG824M dates from 2003, it seems, whereas the DG834G is current. The Netgear website speaks very highly of the latter: "The most popular ADSL Wireless Modem Router in the UK"!0

The DG834G was the ADSL router of choice for many ISP's as was it sister the WGR614 for cable. Both have now been superceeded but I would use the DG834G is it it the newest. Just make sure you update the firmware to the latest / last version on the Netgear website.0
