Happy New Year fellow MSE users!:j
I am on the point of buying a new laptop. With the traditional sales period now winding down and with the VAT rise and the general state of the economy, do you expect prices to fall further during the early part of 2011?
Thanks for any comments, Paul.
BTW, I've narrowed my computer selection down to a Dell M101z and the Asus ul30a

I'd be delighted to receive any comments on these as well please.

depends/ the old models are rapidly superseded by new models/ so it's the law of diminishing returns with regards to power / Q. Do you need that absolute latest power? Probably not /

Hi Paul
I am considering buying a laptop too. Eldest son has an Acer and he recommends this one on sale at Argos. He thinks its a great price for what it is. I have reserved one until monday and will make a decision over the weekend to buy or not. Hope this helps.

Thanks Davidmt23 and ebayqueen for your replies.
The 5742Z does look a good buy but I have set myself a maximum size of below 14" as I need it to be highly portable and fit into a medium sized backpack. I need something for use when I'm away from home, but also capable of performing well, plus I need to be able to see the screen - ideally 12 - 14" (I think) for a 59 year old with ageing eyes!;)0
