Cruise Travellers

I am lucky enough to be going on a cruise again shortly and was looking at the Caribbean Islands and trying to plan ahead as too what trips if any to take when ashore. I generally tend to do my own thing and avoid tour/trips like the plague.

Last year the only regret I had was not going on a tour when I saw the number of boats docked in St Thomas (USVI), the number of one day tourists was unbelieveable, at least 20,000. The town just could not cope, and the popular beaches were also just as busy.

To avoid the same mistake I found a good Web Site which tells you all the ships docked at any port worldwide on any particular day with the number of potential tourists. If the numbers are high, that is the time to arrange a tour with your ship to get away from the crowds.

The web Site is www.cruisett.com , then click on PORTS you can then see how busy any particular port will be when you are there, Happy Cruising.

St Thomas is always a nightmare. I used to work on the cruise ships and although we could go on tours with the passengers I always just took my folding bike. Depends how adventurous you are really. I rarely saw passengers with folding bikes but they are undoubtably the best way to be independent as you dont have much time ashore. Having said that the tours usually offer something for evry1 nowadays.
