ATT - regional colloquialisms!! I remember the first time I heard a bread roll referred to as a barm cake - totally flummoxed.
KC - after writing what I did I had a right chuckle to myself as I recollected a joke fitting of the occasion (if you can forgive me!)
A boy asks his granny, "Have you seen my pills, they were labelled LSD?"
Granny replies, "forget the pills, son, have you seen the dragons in the kitchen?!"

A rare post on here from me - barm cake/bread roll is easy try working where the locals call them tea cakes. I thought they were off their rockers the first few times people asked me for a bacon teacake for breakfast.
Doesn't help that we also sell actual teacakes which the locals refer to as toasted teacakes even if I serve it to them untoasted! :cool:It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Anyone here used to get sent to get the 'messages'? :rotfl:.
Yes KC, I can confirm they are still there and it was an interesting story as I didn't know there used to be lions in the Tower  and it's the origins of the 'three lions on my shirt, Jules Rimet's still gleaming' etc :T.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Yes, I used to get sent for messages and still say going to do a message
Having worked away and all over for so long I've had many a 'barm cake/teacake' moment, I was brought up with the word bun and occasionally still say it when in foreign parts, with me then having to think of the local version, barm, cob etc or else cue much pointing!
Fish and chip shops are similar, I don't like extra batter but if I have to get it for someone else the word batter never seems to land well outside of my home area with scraps or bag of bits being the most common alternatives
Caz, great to see you bag round these parts and yes, I have friends who take a piece to work
Regards
