you can use one to clean your microwave.

Juice of lemon into bowl of water. water into micro and heat on high for 2 mins. leave door closed for further minute so steam can loosen the splattered stuff that's been baked on.

try again...maybe the lemon will hide the smell of the onion and your micro will be extra sparkly :p

  • Here are some interesting bits I found in my google search:

Stuff the onions in a panty hose and hang from ceiling. A basement is great if you have one. Onions will last for up to 6 months.

Carmelized onions freeze well and are delicious for all sorts of things--soups, appetizers, pizzas, burger toppings etc. It takes like 2 lbs of onions to make 1 cup of carmelized onions so you can see the storage advantages there.

Easiest way: I chop them and freeze them in tupperware boxes if there is any empty space in the freezer, but then I use lots of onions in my cooking, so there is never any to freeze in spite of me buying them in 5 kg sacks.:)

  • Onion bhaji for breakfast anyone :rotfl:

You can have toast with scrambled eggs and onion for breakfast. My sons love this :-) Not on arepas, but on toast.

Put them in the lamb, olive and caramelised tagine that I made last week, would be better than the jar stuff I used!

I do have a garage which I could use but neighbours think I'm a bit odd already :D. Would make a good cosh I suppose :T.

I will be freezing them I expect. May take some to work for lunch - jacket spud and philly light, would be lovely on top. Also I am making some hm tom sauce so may mix with pasta, top with onions and bake.

I only have 8 onions left . But it is ok as Aldi have red onions as one on their Super Six :rotfl:.

Claimed an Arcadia voucher off CP.

  • I mix caramelised onions with stock to make a quick onion gravy to go with sausage and mash.
