:hello::hello::hello:
Twas lovely yesterday, thank you all! All job related issues sorted, and to a satisfactory resolution, even, for which I am *extremely* thankful!
We had a wander around the local department store in my sister's town, and I learned more there about mattresses than in the dratted Sussex Bed Centres that my town has had inflicted upon it.... to actually be told "don't buy now, try again and see how it feels, come along several times"!!! Is that service, or what! Fantastic stuff....
I've finally *made* myself sit down at the kitchen table, looking through the income tax form, along with the accounts that were prepared ... even with the complications of moving house and the French thing, I reckon I can do it. Pretty sure - not had a look through at the HMRC website to be sure, but I think so - and for a saving of several hundred pounds (as long as I can get down to the same figure the accountants reach!) I'll have a go. It was like I was being scalded, tho, making myself sit down and look at those figures :rotfl::o:rotfl::o
Today, there's nothing interesting at all, not really - I have 4.5 hours paid work! Some of it in a few minutes time, so I'd better get another cup of tea.
Victory in updating my contact details, at least, on my website (I'd futzed the update on the email address) - and now all the linkages are made, it was incredibly simple to doso I'll do it a lot more now.
Thank you all :kisses3::kisses3::kisses3:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Number One :j
I'm definitely going to do my accounts myself. The paperwork is nearly all ordered into subjects, which is what the hmrc want, after all, I've got the income figures except for mystery shopping. I went to the hmrc website, and it says:
- your tax is worked out automatically as you complete the form, so you know what you owe or are owed right away.
- you can complete part of your tax return, save it and do the rest later, working at your own pace to meet the deadline.
so if its horrendous (i.e. I pay thousands more in tax, so wiping out the saving that I make in not paying the accountant), I've got loads of time to figure out where I need to work on it.
Its a tiny amount of extra work, compared to what I already do on the accounts, and it will save *so* much money.
Number Two :j
I nearly threw them out as a circular, but my five free tickets (thank you Martin :money::money::money:) have arrived from First Capital Connect - and since they have to be used by 31 December, I think I can use them for my Christmas journey up to London (I've already got my tickets from then on).
Number Three :j
Not so immediate but still good - an *actual* circular arrived today from a local estate agent - wanting houses in my road  always nice to know.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well done on actually making a start with the accounts. The idea was probably worse than the reality, and it is quite easy to submit online if you've got all the information to hand.
All money saved is good!
I know what you mean about the good customer service - many years ago I had an Estate Agent round to value my house and he advised me against it. Even though houses in my street were in demand, and the house was in decent condition then. I've always been quite impressed with that as you hear such horrendous stories about Estate agents.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Thank you!

I agree! In fact, now that I'm NHS dentistry, and not doing the accountant, I must re-do my budget, thats quite a bit saved monthly.

Absolutely! Just out of interest, did he say why not? I know you're away on biz now, so I don't think I'll actually get an answer to that question, but I'm still interestd :rotfl:
Anyway, today, I have 1 -2 hours work, I'm not sure, but its in one go at any rate, so doesn't mean I have to wait till evening. I've already been collating paperwork - yesterday, I should have said that 80% of my paperwork is filed in the right place - that last 20% is an nightmare of epic, absolutist, horrendous, nightmarey nightmares :rotfl: you get the point, hey? I can see I'll be a while on it, but I have time today.
The only other thing I *really* should do, and which has been on the to-do list on my paper diary for weeks, is to back up my laptop - especially after all this scanning, if something went kablooey, I'd lose the last few months :cool:
Anyway, I have my beloved cup of coffee in my beloved kitten mug, so I'm off round the diaries ....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
