On moving into out rented house we didnt take a gas meter reading. We dont know who our supplier is or how to find out as we havent receieved any bills yet. Will it be a major problem finding out what the reading was just before we moved in?
Thanks

Call whoever you rented the house from. It would have been in their interests to read the meters in case of any disagreement with the previous tenants or yourselves. Good luck...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MoneySavingExpert Forum Team0

Take a meter reading asap and take weekly readings for the next four weeks. If you can't get hold of the original reading from when you moved in, the utility company will take an estimate. If when you get your first bill through it is way out you can then call them back with the readings and they will usually re-estimate it based on your usage.
To find out who your supplier is call transco on 0876081524. They ow the pipelines to about 90% of houses n the country. It's usefu to have your meter serial number to hand if you live in a lat or new build because they may have difficulty finding it. If Transco isn't your pipeline company, look at the front of your meter, it should tell you.0
