Arrgghh car broken again !!

Went to see my parents yesterday morning and we was about 10 mins from there house and car died....the abs and srs lights came on ..the speedo and rev dials went to 0 ..car was slowly loosing power. pulled over and it wouldnt start again

phone the AA and he came out checked battery ..was dead he told us need a new alternator . gave the battery some charge and followed us to mums house.

my dad managed to find a place that was open and got an alternator for £289!! dad fitted it for us ...it started ..hubby took it for a lil drive and broke down again this time belt has snapped!

Dad had to bring us home at 8pm last night ..he seems to think we will find a place open that sells alternator belts. wonder how much that is going to cost us!

Dont worry,

The belt was probably too tight, or even too loose when fitted. They usually are to be fitted once, then replaced.

Halfords are open today, and do sell some Aux belts.

Drive belt or timing belt snapped? If the timing belt has snapped fitting a new belt wont be the cure you
were hoping for.
