Hi, i bought a [FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]LOGIK - L24DVDB19 24" Full HD LCD TV with DVD Player to replace my old crt in the bedroom which finally gave up the ghost just before Christmas. I was very excited when i got it out of the box as it looked great however i am massively disappointed!
I have used my old scart lead to hook it up-to my old sky+ box and the picture is terrible! It looks very grainy and dark. I have fiddled with the colour and its not much better. The picture via the inbuilt freeview is quite good and that is without an ariel. However i really want to use my sky box with this as i have multi-room and enjoy watching films in bed.
My questions are: Will a good scart lead dramatically improve my picture? Does the inbuilt freeview conflict with sky> Can i return the item based on the poor picture quality?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Chris

A few thoughts , could you try connecting with a HDMI cable (don`t think the sky box has the option though but worth a look )
and i would try a different scart lead but don`t go buying an expensive one as it WON`T make any noticable difference ,just try another and see if there is any improvement.0 -
Check the Sky+ is outputting RGB on the SCART, maybe worth trying other options to see which gives best picture. TBH, SCART is never going to be much good with an HD telly with an SD source.0

SD qulaity is quite often poor on the HD panels
we 'upgraded' to a VM+ box primarily for its SD upscaling ability0 -
I would have thought there is something wrong I have my old sky box connected to my 37” HD TV with a cheap scart lead and the picture is very good.0

Sorry, but if you don't have any aerial connected, then whatever you are viewing is not Freeview.
If the pic quality is poor only with your Sky feed. then clearly it's not an issue with the TV itself.
What you have bought is a budget brand TV/DVD combo, you're not going to get very good quality on any platform with that. Full HD on a 24 inch screen is not really distinguishable from HD Ready.
Did you assess/compare the pic quality in the shop before you bought it?No free lunch, and no free laptop

I concur, I had a so called full HD el cheapo TV/DVD combo a Digihome if I recall. The SD picture on that was pretty poor.
Replaced this with a Samsung B series, the SD picture is very good especially considering it gets its signal from the RF2 output from the downstairs Sky+HD box. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
You might want to check that the TV is set to "Digital" and not "Analogue".

With no aerial connected, what you will be viewing without the Sky box is simply analogue TV, you probably get reasonable channel 1-3, some channel 4, and a very poor channel 5, which does beg the question about the settings on your TV.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

It sounds to me like the Sky is feeding through on a closely tuned analogue channel.
Try pressing the AV ( or whatever it is called on your TV ) button on the remote control.0 -
I can definitely testify that a decent scart can make a difference on a decent tv
However, you clearly have another problem as even a cheapie cr*p one shouldn't look that bad
Your tvs connected to freeview without ANY aerial being plugged in?
My first guess is your scarts faulty (some wires touching inside or suchlike):idea:0
