Hello :hello:
Sorry if this has been previously posted but i am wondering if anyone has any idea how much i would be looking at paying for a conversion to solar power?
I currently have a back boiler and looking to replace and looking to the future a solar power system may work out better so if anyone has had this done a rough idea how much this would be it would be most appreciated.
Also if anyone knows of any council/slash government grants would be great to!
Thank you and Happy New year to all!

Solar central heating is unlikely to meet the needs of a British household!
You can get solar water heating which will supply most of your hot water during summer periods, and contribute to the water heating in winter, but you would still need something to top that up - gas, electric immersion heaters etc.
http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/ has lots of info on different heating methods and calculators for any grants. I think most grants have stopped though, although the Renewable Heat Initiative is due sometime next year which would give payments for certain renewable sources.0 -
A solar water system might at best provide 40% of your hot water. It won't provide the other 60%, not will it heat your house-you willl still need a conventional system as well. I think you need to do some more research. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
