do brittish Gas have a standing charge for electricity?

No, but they charge more for the first xx units.
The difference in total costs for the first xx units and an identical number of lower-rate additional units happens to be the same as the standing charge they used to charge. (At least, it was when they abolished standing charge several years ago)A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

On prepayment, it depends what sort of meter you have. The no standing charge price applies to Actaris KBD meters.0
