Lost Parcel

I sold an item on eBay recently, but it hasn't arrived.

The item was posted on December 23 by Royal Mail First Class Signed For. The buyer used 'Buy it Now' on December 22 to purchase the item for £32.50 + £2 shipping.

Could it be delayed, or is it most likely lost?

I was looking at the Royal Mail Claim Form, but it seems that I need an 'Original Proof of Value' such as a till receipt, except the item was brought over a year ago and I'm not sure I have it anymore.

Is it ok just to send the completed claim form, postage receipt with tracking code, eBay Sale Page, PayPal Page and eBay item number?

Thanks.

I would ask your - buyer politely - to wait until at least the middle of next week for it to arrive, 4-5 Jan say - postal services are patchy at the best of times over Christmas and New Year and although there has been a lull in the bad weather, the system is still clogged with post from during the disruptions.

I don't know the specifics of the claim procedure myself but if the item is secondhand and you are not a business, then the eBay sale price would probably be accepted. Business customers usually can only claim the price they originally paid for the item but private sellers can normally claim the sale value.

Firstly it is a bit early to be worrying, standard 1st class is not a guaranteed service and it's really only been a few working days since it was posted.

Is th ebuyer hassling you? If so keep in contact with them and try and get them to wait until at elast the next post onn Tuesday (I think it is Tuesday?) and tell them you'll refund then if it still hasn't arrived.

I assume the recorded number just says it is still progressing through the system?

EDIT; you can't even start the RM claim until after the 15th working day anyway, so well into January.

I wonder if OP has mistaken recorded for special and that's why they are concerned parcel isn't there after only a few days? However with postage being only £2 it can only have been a large letter recorded to cost that much.

I received an item posted 2nd class on December 15th, with a postmark dated December 6th, so as others have suggested, it seems a little early to start stressing about the item being lost.

OP, has the buyer been in touch asking where it is or are you worrying as you have checked the tracking online? If it is the former you need to send reassuring messages encouraging the buyer to wait a few more working days and saying you will refund if it does not arrive. If the latter keep an eye on it but don't do anything until or unless the buyer gets in touch.
