Frister+Rossmann Cub SP

My 3 year old sewing machine stopped turning the bobbin while my daughter was using it. My (engineer) husband has dismantled the bobbin housing, only to find that there is a nylon gear which has been trashed. (the lady in the shop says it was probably caused by dragging a piece of heavy material through).

The repair guy will not supply this as a spare part, as he says it is too difficult for an amateur to fit, and it could lead to misaligning something else in the fitting.
Cost of repair will be £50 plus part.

We cannot find a repair manual with a parts number for this gear, nor a website that even supplies them.
Anyone know any better - pleeeeeeeease?
