External HD - Mac Format need to get documents off on to Windows

Hi,
I have all my documents backed up on an Western Digital Passport external hard drive, I thought I had formatted the passport to work with both windows and Mac.
I no longer have a Mac and need to get the documents off but it doesn't let me access the drive through 'My Computer' even though it shows it as an external hard drive.
I do know someone with a Mac that I can use to burn the docs to disc but wondered if there was any other way of getting the documents onto windows.
Thanks
Sarah

you could try MacDisk software http://www.macdisk.com/mden.php30

HFSExplorer which is free. Its read only though so you can't write to the disk from Windows however I don't think that'd be a problem for you?0

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. I had to go in to PC World this afternoon to return a laptop sleeve and asked if they could check to see if the files were on the hard drive still and they were extremely helpful and actually moved the docs off the hard drive, reformatted the drive and put the documents back on all for no charge.
