Please Help With My Dissertation About The Internet and Social Networking

This is for a university degree and i'm sure most of you have been in my shoes and know the stresses of uni in the final year and these replies aren't helping.
There are so many uncontrolled variables in your study the likelihood of it achieving anything remotely resembling an accurate level of probability is vanishingly small.
You may wish to consider it as a pilot which has uncovered gaping holes and make necessary adjustments. One of which would be to seek permission from the owner of this website to invite people to participate. Courtesy never harmed an undergraduate study..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -

You mean that you are dissing his/her dissertation? :rotfl:I have to question the validity of a degree when the dissertation is partly based on a survey of the use of (anti-)social networking sites.....is this in the same league as degrees in David Beckham Studies or Surfing ???????? Or is it just a mere sub-plot in something much bigger and far more relevant to the world??0 -
Also agree that there's no real need to deliberately give stupid answers to make some kind point. Yes perhaps the OP could have posted it differently with a link and explained more about the reasons behind it etc but if you dont agree with it or think the degree is a waste of time then dont spend your time going through to the survey. Social networking is a large area of growth and is hugely relevant to today's world.
And I dont see why the options for the questions equate to arrogance and they have come back to say some erros have been corrected. Everyone makes mistakes. I really think too much is being read into things sometimes. Comes across as though some could read the ingredients on a tin of beans and find something to be offended about/see as being arrogant!
C'mon people, cut some slack! Happy new year and all that.
Or is it just me flying the "be friendly" banner?!0 -
I'm thinking of doing an online survey as to why people, either don't respond to surveys or give false responses.
Anybody want to sponsor me?

That would be ingenious. Sadly, however, looking at the standard of the OP's questions and twitter feed, she really doesn't seem anywhere near intelligent enough to come up with that.DatabaseError wrote: »The OP turned up, provided almost no information, and promptly left, requiring the long standing members (a loose community formed through the social network of the forum) to provide working links to his survey.
I wonder if the dissertation is really about getting strangers to work together to perform a task for no obvious reason other than a complete stranger asked them to, the sense of "duty" to strangers that the internet can create?
Wow, you might want to add a section in your dissertation about how the internets work. You're going to get a lot of people deliberately poisoning your answers now to wind you up.It has annoyed me that people feel the need to take the time to do my survey to post stupid answers:

I don't mean to sound harsh, but if you're going to post idiotic answers then please just don't fill in at all.poppy100 -
I love how you are all mocking social networking and how it's part of a University degree, but do you not realise that being here, you're contributing to it too? If it wasn't for courses like mine, then you wouldn't have things like iPhone apps, YouTube, iPlayer, etc. Although I do have to say thank you too! I can now talk about how people react within online communities to make themselves feel better about their own lives.0

I am absolutely shocked and appalled by some of the rudeness of the messages posted on this thread. I know Yoly personally and she is one of the loveliest young people you could hope to meet. She is also very intelligent and working hard at university to make something of herself unlike many of the young people around today. She came onto this forum in the hopes of some help. I'm sure she realised that not everybody would want to fill in the survey and may just pass it by but what she was not expecting was to have personal abuse thrown at her. I am pretty sure all the abusive people on here would never say these thing to her if they were face to face and are hiding behind their computer screens so they don't have to deal with the real world. If you are one of the people who has posted a scathing comment to such a lovely person then I very much hope that the day you ask for a helping hand all you get back is abuse and taunts. You are now unfortunately what is wrong with this world. You are happy to sit and abuse others, offering out hurtful comments and never trying to make a positive difference. This post itself is most probably a wasted exercise as you will either choose to turn away from the truth that you have been hurtful to someone else or you will reply with more venom to make yourself feel better but at the end of the day I could not sit back and allow the abusive comments to upset my friend any longer. I really hope after reading this you might just choose to make your next forum post to someone a positive one and see how it makes you feel. There is far too much hate in the world for people to add even more to it. You make think that's fluffy waffle but just try being nice to someone for once and see what happens.0

And if it wasn't for courses like the one I completed, then we wouldn't have cheap food, full stomachs and spare money for the essentials/rubbish you're investigating.Move along, nothing to see.0
