I have just received a credit card statement that was posted on 9 December and it's only just arrived. Clearly the post still has a backlog, at least in my area. Payment due date was yesterday.
I pay by DD so it's not a problem, the payment went out yesterday, but for anyone who doesn't, I'd suggest you make sure when your payments are due if you haven't had a statement. A late payment means you risk losing any special deals like 0% etc.

Been stung like this once, now all my credit accounts and statements are online, and get emails to say that they are ready... Plud they're all DD's, gotta love DD's!!0

this is true for some credit accounts. Next for some reason have moved the goalpost a week early after at least 5 years being on the same date.
I hear New Look card stings people with 'late payment' with this too.0 -
I was referring more to the delays with Royal Mail, rather than the CC companies moving the goalposts. I know they do that too but people need to be alert in case their statement is delayed like mine was.0

I recall receiving a text message from one of my credit card providers advising of how to avoid late payments during a period of postal delays.
I'm sure a call to customer services explaining a delayed payment, due to widely known postal disruptions, would succeed in preventing or removing the negative effects of the delayed payment.0 -
In the 2 weeks before Christmas the ONLY post I got was credit card statements. Though I do take your point op.0

Don't understand this receiving a statement in the post thing. I have moved into the 21st century and get mine on line. My statement date is 7th of the month and I get it that day.0

I check mine almost daily on-line, but still receive a copy in the post too! Most months I don't even bother the open it, but I like to have it for instances when you need ID - I don't have many other accounts in my name so it's quite handy!0 -
I only posted this as a little warning to anyone who may not check their statements online, or pay by DD or whatever. As I said, I received a statement more than three weeks after it had been posted. It didn't affect me in any way but as this is a money saving site I thought a little reminder may be helpful to someone.
Obviously not - we're all obviously far too smart to not pay by DD or check our statements online

FYI
I'm usually on top with my payments and keep everything filed.
Phoned up today to pay off my Royal Bank of Scotland CC and the recorded message mentioned about a delay in getting their December statements out.
So, everyone, be warned......0
