Best way to sell books?

I've had a clear out and have quite a lot of books to sell.
Which gets the better return bearing mind that I'd rather not spend loads of time on it either:
E-bay
Amazon
Taking a boxful down to my local second-hand book shop?
Thanks for any advice, especially on actually making money with them on-line when I see other copies going for 1p - how is that worth it?

If they are rare books, might be good to go to a specialist 2nd hand book seller, to get the best price, else the easiest option would be ebay, or amazon. I prefer ebay out of the two.0

If they are going for a 1p on Amazon then thy are basically worthless and personally I would just charity shop the lot of them.
A 1p book on Amazon is going to cost a buyer £2.76 including post and packing and that's where buyers will look first. Unless you can undercut that (and take into account postage in the region of £1.95) you will be too expensive.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I found the easiest way to get them listed is Amazon as you just type in the ISBN number and it pulls up the book and a picture of it. It took me about 1 minute per listing to do this and choose the "condition" etc. -v- listing on ebay when I found to take a photograph of a book, get that photo onto my PC then onto ebay, then choose the category and write the advert took me an hour.
I listed all my books on Amazon and managed to shift a few.
One way you might do it is: list them all on Amazon as it's quick/easy, as you're listing them you find out their price/value and can make judgements about their worth. Then, see what sells in the first 2 months, after that you might want to remove 1-2 that you believe are worth a few quid more and box the rest up as an ebay Wholesale item "ideal for car booters".0 -
Thanks, I think I'll try Amazon first and see what happens and then batch up the leftovers for a charity shop. None of them are rare, just modern paperbacks/hardbacks in good condition.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

Whats the fees on Amazon?0

There's some excellent advice on the Ebay forum on selling books on Amazon.

I've sold quite a lot of my old books and dvds this way. The fees are high but they do pass on the postage cost, so £2.75 per book. This is how booksellers can afford to sell books for £0.01. There's a breakdown of how much profit you'll make according to the weight of a £0.01 book on the thread.
So far I've sold about 20 books and dvds and made about £90, so definitely worth it from my point of view. I haven't paid anything for packaging, though, as I have a bag of used packaging that I recycle.
This is my storefront in case anyone would like to browse.

They are steep. For instance the 1p novel i quoted above costs the buyer £2.76 but the seller only gets £1.44 and postage on a standard paperback is £1.95- so a loss.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I agree about amazon. If there is the same book there for 1p then its not worth listing yours. Ebay might be worth a try. Its quick to list stuff once you get used to it. I've recently found greenmetropolis (just google it) which I read about on here. I've listed some books on there but no interest yet. Good luck. xxMake 2019 in 2019: £1350/20190

Why I've always preferred to ebay.0 -
People seem much more 'desperate' on ebay, I would say your probably easily get rid of them on there0
