Advice about ex-quarters housing at RAF Wittering please?

Hi All
I'm interested in the ex-married quarters for sale at RAF Wittering, I know many were sold off in 2000 ( as I used to live in one as hubbie was RAF ). Now they are quite affordable at around £80-100k.
I really liked the area as it was close to A1 and Stamford is lovely, but I'm worried if the area has gone downhill since the sell off.
I think the future of Wittering base is quite safe also, so as I am looking for a long term home is would be ideal.
Anyone live there and can tell me what its like now please ?
PS I have posted this question on House buying board too.
Thanks

hi there
i live in a quarter at raf wittering presently. i work at raf cottesmore and commute. now what with the harrier being scrapped (unfortunately i work on them!) alot of the houses will be emptied. wittering i believe will still be busy as its a logistical hub. it'll just be much quiter round here! lol. as an area it is still very nice and stamford is a lovely town.
anything else you want to know i'll be happy to try and help!Fleet Air Arm - 800 NAS - *Nunquam Non Paratus*Showing the 'Crabs' how its done for over a hundred years!Tesco loan, £4,000 over 3 years - £138 p/m6 months 0% bicycle finance - £60 p/m0 -

Do you mean when they sell off the ex-quarters trooperdog? If so try googling Annington Homes and they're show you the ones that are for sale at the mo or the ones coming soon.Starting again and working towards our new df life!A very proud forces wife0

cheers!!! is that the only place as they dont seem to as cheap as i expected I could get a new barrets home for some of the prices. do annington just buy off the mod and re sell?? is there anyway to buy direct from the mod??0

MOD don't sell direct, they don't even own the homes in England as they were mianly sold to Annington years ago, then leased back.
I think there's a HUGE estates rationalisation project going on, so no-one's quite sure where MOD will be staying or leaving, and hence where the demand for quarters will be. There might be a real excess of supply before too long!Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -
They do seem to be a bit pricey, but the list price to for joe public. I believe they still offer members of the forces a discount on numbers of years you've lived in qrtrs. I know they used to and I'm pretty sure this is still the case.Starting again and working towards our new df life!A very proud forces wife0
