Hi there. I wanted to pay my outstanding balance to Homebase by using my credit card in order to avoid 29.9 APR. However, they state they only take payments via debit card.
Is there any way around this?
Thanks in adavnce.

Are you trying to pay off a Homebase credit card? If so then you could try to find another CC that has low (or zero) interest balance transfer offer and use that.for a balance transfer rather than a direct payment.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0

Hi Pete. Sorry, should have explained. I purchased a kitchen on a one year 0% APR, the year is now up and I was going to pay off the balance with my relatively low APR Credit card. They do not accept payment via credit card though, even though head office told me that I could. Just wondered if there was any way to avoid their 29.9 APR charge.0

You need to shift the debt to a lower rate.
If you can get a 0% SBT (super balance transfer card) then you can transfer money from the SBT card to your current account to pay off your debt.
However this may take a few weeks.
Do you have a friend or family memeber who can sub you in the meantime?
Also check beforehand next time0 -
Understood Lisyloo. I have to move fast as I have 5 days only to pay. I do have a Lloydstsb Platinum credit card. Could I transfer funds from that over to my current account?0

not without an expensive cash advance, you have left it very late. I would try to get a loan with your bank0

From memory, the 29.9% is backdated to the day you signed the agreement so do hurry.0

I don't think you can use your existing card.
Here's a list of SBT cards.

5 days is not sufficient to set up a card and get a balance transferred.
You are looking at 2 weeks to get a card and maybe another week for a transfer (this is assuming you have a good credit rating, available credit and will be accepted).
So you need to sort something out in the interim, either via your bank or friends/family.
There is no guarantee you will get a card, so look at the other options availabel as well e.g. loan, overdraft, but as already stated you need to pay off that debt ASAP otherwise the interest may well be backdated.
(This is exactly what they want to happen).0 -
Thanks for all your advice guy's. After being re-assured that I could use a credit card by their customer services I thought 'no problem' I'll leave it until the last week and pay it off. I won't do that again. I think I will borrow from my daughters savings (that I have paid into) and pay an extra 100 pounds a month into that account until I re-pay the debt.0

Was this someone you spoke to recently in the branch that you would recognise? or someone you spoke to on the phone a year ago and you don't know their name?
If you can identify them and it was recent then I would complain.
If it was ages ago then they might have changed their terms.
If you don't know who you spoke to it's a waste of time.0 -
It was about a month ago, but no I didn't get their name unfortunately.0
