I'm trying to find my password for Skype - problem is that the programme is on three machines (2 x laptop and 1 x desktop) and they run/login automatically.

Now I want to use it on my iPhone but can't find the password anywhere, not even in the list of saved passwords on the internet tools options where all the others are. This is puzzling... can anyone tell me where else it may be please?
:o

Go to https://login.skype.com and select the 'forgot password' option

Thanks- however that will give me a new password which I don't really want, would prefer to find out my current one. I could logout on one of the machines... but then will probably not be able to login in again. Back in February of this year I found it as I bought the little laptop to use overeas and obviously logged in then - just a pain in the neck at the moment.

I had this problem a couple of years ago, but couldn't find any method of finding it. Not even the NirSoft utilities include a method of obtaining the Skype password, because it is very well encrypted. I just chose another Skype name.

Thanks - I'm glad to hear that it's not me being dense in not finding it! I've spent the best part of 30 minutes guessing the password  and found it eventually and have now enjoyed a liong'ish chat with family in Melbourne FOC :j

    Cheers
  • May I suggest keypass?

Glad to hear it's solved. For anyone else having a similar issue:

A program called Asterisk Key us able to decode the password asterisks that display when logging into some programs with remembered passwords:

...it is often deleted by virus/spyware scanners so you might have to add an exception.
I am not sure if this proggy works for Skype though.

surely you can choose the 'forgot password' it gives you a new one which you then can change to the password you want, or am I missing something?

I think skype updated a couple of years ago and the update deleted/screwed up a lot of peoples passwords, I seem to remember lots of people having this issue.

It certainly happened to me and a lot of my friends.
