Hi, I was wondering if any of you guys would know how long it takes to open a basic bank account online? I have to open one pretty quickly. Thanks

    Some banks dont allow you to apply for a basic account online, it depends who you want to apply to
    Debt free and staying that way! :beer:

    If you call up Coop's call centre on 08457 212212, it will take 3 working days to open if they do not require ID. If they do I predict 5 working days to physically open.

    You'll certainly be quicker going into a branch. Natwest takes about 5 working days online. Lloyds TSB and Barclays can give you an account number while you wait. Don't use Royal Bank of Scotland unless you're in Scotland else you'll end up with the dreaded Santander in about a years time.

    Yesterday I found the basic bank account post on here, 15 minutes later I was in Barclays and 30 minutes after that I had a bank account.

    metro bank (the cash card acc) is around 20-50 minutes to open with DC issued instantly
