    Hi

According to my quote from Energyhelpline, SOL 20 doesn't have any standing charges.

"23 Dec '10: Why has my online account SOL16 gone up by 16.5% for the electric and 28.5% for the gas when the headline increase is 5%? Also why was this not put into the letter as a percentage increase? I cannot believe that you are trying to mislead your customers. Really big LOL.
I'm sorry you feel we are misleading our customers but the 5% increases relate to our standard domestic tariffs and excludes our online tariffs. Our Sign Online customers will receive a separate letter outlining the changes to their tariffs. Online customers who have seen bigger increases to their bills will be provided with a number of options - which include switching tariffs if they want to"

They treat their customers with utter contempt so we really shouldn't be surprised

I was a SOL16 customer. For me, based on actual usage over the last year, I calculate an increase of 39% from the new prices.

For my mother-in-law, also on SOL16, based on estimated usage, I calculate an increase of 30%.

Using the same medium user figures (3300kWh electricity and 16500kWh gas) npower used to derive the headline 5.1% increase for their standard tarriff, I calculate an increase of 20%. (From 30.2p/day, 9p electricity, 3.252p gas to 63.8p/day, 12.83p electricity, 2.788p gas, both less the £100 discount (figures ex VAT).)

Given that 20% figure, npower surely ought to be recalculating all affected customers' payments. I'm not aware of any plan to do so, so I assume the intention is to (a) change the tarriff so much that customers can't easily see how much more expensive it is, and (b) deliberately avoid giving any hints except to say that prices are increasing. The idea being that many customers will assume it's something like that 5.1% and therefore take no action - at least until they see the massive hike in DD payments (to cover arrears and new higher cost) on their next bill.

Not sure what the relation is between Sign Online and Web tarriffs but it looks like versions 15 and 16 of each are all in a similar position.
