This question is woolier than a back combed wookie!

Do you want the best hotel or the cheapest hotel the two are very different.

Best deals for shopping and dining, given that none of us know you im gonna say primark and happy meals at mcdonalds are the best deals.

The point im trying to make is you need to be more specific about your questions.
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right
  • I stayed at The Hide recently. It’s about 20 minutes out of central London by tube, which is 2 minutes walk from the hotel itself. It’s a really nice hotel, good staff, good breakfast (included in the price!) and a massive cost saving based on the same star hotel in central London.
As for eating out etc why not look at the vouchers that are on the forum in the Restaurant section? Also, if you go to London by return train go on the daysoutguide website which is run by the train companies, register and print some of the vouchers there. As long as you have a return train ticket in and out of London that you can show at the ticket office, or a valid train ticket for the day you are visiting the attraction, you can get 2 for 1 tickets at certain places…. We went armed with restaurant and attraction vouchers but it did save us a fortune.

You could write whole books on what to do and where to stay in London.

But as a start I suggest you look at your local version of https://www.tripadvisor.com which has lots of reviews of hotels and several million suggestions on what to do in London.
