Hi
This is in similar vein to the 'unofficial balance transfer deal' thread already going but for 0% purchases
Does anyone know of a company that will offer this to keep existing customers.
I have 3 cards (Barclaycard/Halifax/HBOS) with no balance but huge rates. I am after 0% for 6months+ and instead of getting a new card wnated to see if I could just get one of these to offer me a deal instead.
Both Barclays and Halifax are doing deals at the moment for new customers.
I tried Halifax but they just said no as no offer was coming up for me on their computer.
I know there is litle incentive for the company to do such offers for existing customers apart from stopping us leaving, but we can always hope.
Anyone ever managed to extend or get a new 0% period for purchases then?

Got a Virgin card April 2009 to do a balance transfer of £3500.
Cleared it in June time this year and have had at least 6 offers this year, various offers including 0% on purchases, 0% on balance transfers (4% one off fee), 0% on money transfers (4% one off fee) and one 6.9% for life of balance transfers.0 -
Agree with the above. Virgin / MBNA seem to offer these promotions to existing customers on a regular basis but bear in mind that you can't transfer a balance from 1 MBNA card to another at 0%.
The only way to find out if your provider would consider a lower interest rate would be to ring and ask - they can only say no.
I would say your best bet would be to get a new card on 0% (if your credit rating allows) and maybe consider closing one or more of the other cards with the highest interest if you're not using them. You can reapply as a new customer after a period of time - maybe 6 months, not 100% sure.0 -
I agree that MBNA will continue to offer 0% deals - well they do to me anyway.0

Just got another 6 months 0% offered from Halifax, account was clear and unused for some time. Also just got 0% from Barclaycard until Oct 2011, (already on a promo 0% offer until March 2011 with balance outstanding), didn't know anything about it until I logged into my account online and saw the offer.Herman - MP for all!0

I phoned Barclaycard and the guy just said there are no offers for purchases at the moment
That was the end of that.
New card it is then.0 -
