Kitchen damage - Insurance Claim

Hi
I had a kitchen installed about 2 years ago by MFI just before they went bust. I have today noticed that some of the cupboards are rotten and that the kickboard is soaking wet - when I pulled it away it snapped into 4 pieces. I believe this is due to the kitchen sink not being sealed into the worktop. The integrated dishwasher door has dropped and is rotten on the bottom. The floor underneath the cupboards is also soaking wet.
I have building and contents insurance and accidental damage for contents. Would something like this be covered on my insurance as I will obviously not be able to purchase matching kickboards anymore or new cupboards/doors.
Thanks for any advise.

That sounds more like a leak, not an unsealed sink, unless you mean the drain is leaking heavily.
get it looked at asap
Insurance should cover the kitchen, but may not cover the leak.0 -
will cover any resultant damage due to the leak......0

I think it is where the sink was not sealed and the water has been seaping underneath the sink for sometime. The cupboard directly underneath is warped and collapsed inside and when I pulled the kickboards away the floor is wet and very black.0

If the seak wasn't sealed to the worksurface, I would expect the worksurface to be blown by now, unless it's granite. But the insurance should cover it anyway. (but not the leak)0

There are some sellers online that sell some of the MFI range of cupboard doors.0

I have now got to the bottom of the leak problem. I had a boiler installed by British Gas about 3 years ago. The pipework was never completed from the boiler to the drain. The condensor pipe leads into my kitchen into a cupboard and drains on the floor and not into a drainage pipe. This has caused the damage. The pipe is in 2 parts and was never connected together therefore most of the water has drained into my garden however some of the water has gone into the 2nd part of the pipe which runs into my kitchen and has caused the flood. Any advise on this part of the issue?0

Contact BG and tell them their negligence has caused this problem and ask them to correct their fault as well as reimburse you your costs. This will save you making any claim at all on your insurance, and you will be able to get the plumbing problem put right too!0 -
I have contacted them and they have refused to send anyone out as I do not hold a Home care agreement and have said I will have to wait for someone to get back to me to say if they will come out or not in the new year.0
