Travel insurance - cancellation ONLY?

Hi,

My mum is taking us (3 adults and two children) on holiday in July, remaining in England, for a week, and she would like to insure it against cancellation if one of us is too ill to go (or unable for some very good reason eg broken leg). Purely to get back what she has paid out prior to starting out.

Does such a policy exist? I've been browsing around and I thought I'd found a couple, but the quotes come out with all the standard stuff on it as well.

Thanks,
wb.

  • i'm not too sure, but to my best knowledge you'll only get insured for if you have to cancel for an immediate problem with a family member, but I think they would more than likely make you go with broken bones to be honest

I think you need to research the family / single trip scenarios?

And ............ pay for the holiday on a Credit Card. As that offers additional protection if there's problems with the accommodation / booking.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
  • when we went away to a cottage here in uk we had a policy called UKPlus.

You need a UK holiday cancellation insurance policy. Are you booking through an holiday cottage agency? they usually recommend a policy.
  • I've booked for a week in Scotland in June. I don't want a million pounds medical insurance or baggage insurance - just to cover if we have to cancel our hotel booking - a lot can happen in 6 months. Surely that's not too much to ask?
