Different car in the photos

Hi
On the 28th Dec after driving around Brighton to find a street that I could park in (ie one with a parking meter) I parked then paid for a parking ticket from a meter about 20 meters away.
Then when I returned I had a PCN on my windscreen. After stepping into busy street I saw above the "one way" sign near my car I saw that (unfortunately) the bay that I parked in was a residents parking bay. Bit annoying but it's just one of those things that I'll have to learn from.
Anyway, when I try to pay online the photo's are of a different car (which is parked on a yellow line). Is there any grounds for an appeal?
Thanks
Nik

If it's not your car then no offence has taken place and don't pay.
Write to the council pointing out their error.
More knowledgeable people will be along shortly to give a better response, also try posting pepipoo.0 -
You wont be able to ignore the pcn you got on your car, there may be wats around it as technically its flawed.
Best to get photos of where you were parked, and of signage and bays etc. Then pop over to pepipoo and start a thread of your own, post all the photos and a scan of the pcn.
Brighton have been known in the past to !!!! things up big time but the bods on pep'll sort you out one way or another. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Is the reg number right or is it just the photo that's wrong? If reg then ignore it for present as they won't be able reissue a ticket. They only have one chance, if they stuff it up then that's it. Get the pics recommended and go on over to pepipoo.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Please don't rush to pay it. Many of the bays in Brighton are hybrid for a start, which can be one point of appeal. Which road was it, can you let us know?
There are probably others that pepipoo can add, here's the forum. Read the FAQs first please and make sure you include a pic of the front & back of the PCN, minus the car reg and PCN number:

I live in Sussex and would never just pay a Council PCN, nine times out of ten they can be successfully appealed with pepipoo poster's help. All you risk by appealing is to possibly be told by the adjudicator to pay the full (non-discounted) fine. No costs or hassle or anything.
And the odds are in your favour as (even without pepipoo help) most adjudicator appeals are allowed if you persist, have a reasonable basis of appeal and are diligent with deadlines. A friend of mine has successfully appealed 3 Council tickets in Brighton & Hove in the last 2 years (without pepipoo nor my help), just by stating her reasonable case and being happy to explain it to an adjudicator. She has never lost one, took it to the adjudicator every time and she wasn't appealing on any technicality.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
