im trying to set up the optical cable between my 40'' tv surround sound and ps3, but currently i use the optical cable from my tv to surround sound, but the surround sound dvd isnt blu ray so i use my ps3 to play blu ray is there a easier way to get the ps3 surround sound without switching cable everytime i switch between watching a blu ray and normal dvd.

Seconded. Once you get a PS3, the DVD player becomes redundant. Its even more redundant if it doesn't have HDMI and doesn't upscale DVDs.0

Had a similar ish problem but invested in another couple of Opticals cables and have ordered a splitter switch which should do the job
