    All the T&C say are:
    • you must be switching a current account to us from another UK bank
    • you must not have another current account with us at the time you apply for the New Account

Whether they consider 'First Direct' another bank or not I'm not sure... the T&C dont really say

I rang them yesterday to check, and was told it was *thought* I wasn't eligible as fd is part of the hsbc family, but someone would get back to me once they checked with their manager. They took my mobile number, but I haven't heard anything. The t's and c's are pretty open, it doesn't say fd account holders aren't eligible.

I'll post here if I hear more.

    Should be eligible because,

    i) terms only mention 'us' [HSBC Bank plc]

ii) it's been offered a few times in one form or another and having a FD account throughout hasn't prevented me receiving the payment
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam
  • Good question... do the terms mention 'HSBC bank' or 'HSBC group'? fd are HSBC Group... I know that at fd we can't do 0% balance transfers for HSBC or M&S cards as they are 'within group' however not sure on the welcome bonuses... I know this doesn't really help...
I work for first direct and have previously worked for Santander.
Any information I give should not been seen as being given from first direct or Santander however I do have certain knowledge from working there.

    Thank you, Chrissy

First Direct are not just part of the HSBC Group; they are part of HSBC Bank itself. It says so on the FD website:

"first direct is a division of HSBC Bank plc"

  • Yer but it will mainly depend on what the t/cs say re the welcome bonus... i'm sure if your a HSBC customer and you come to fd,I think we still pay the £100, not 100% sure though, and don't know if it's the same the other way round..
