My husband is about to take a pay cut. His job always included a subsidised house. He also has to pay CSA for his older 2 children. If we were not paying this we would have enough to actually rent a house and not rely on the council's homelessness department which I have heard is shocking in this area.
We have debts and our repayments are £450 a month. His salary will become around £20,000-£23,000.
How can you get your income to cover your rent because looking at ours (and I do have a small wage but mine really covers the debts and childcare) we only have £400 a month but realistically we really need closer to £650-£700.

His take home is £1,300. How can this not cover rent, food and bills? (given your income covers debt repayment and childcare)
£150 food.
£100 bills.
£100 CT.
£100 extra.
This leaves £850 for rent. Which unless you live in my area, is plenty.0 -
I think this is probably better posted on the Debt-Free Wannabe board.
Presumably his payments for other children will be reassessed if he's taking a paycut?0 -

There are things such as car insurance, fuel to get to and from work etc that need to be factored in too. I have a very strict budget sheet thats all.
Never mind I'll take it to the DFW. Thought it was more of a budgetting question thats all.Debt August 2009 - £30,525.50Debt Paid February 2011

I have the figures that would be reassessed so am working off correct calculations. It does go down yes but it is by that much that we are short by each month. Obviously that gets allocated first as they also have to eat and live.Debt August 2009 - £30,525.50Debt Paid February 2011

Thank you too opinions4u
This is a nice board. It makes a change to be advised to post elsewhere without a tirade of unnecessary comments. Big thank you to you :jDebt August 2009 - £30,525.50Debt Paid February 2011
