useless epad bought online thecheaplaptops.co.uk

Hi,
I'm really desperate for some help.
at the end of November my father bought a couple of cheap epads from thecheaplaptops.co.uk for christmas presents for my daughters. When he got them he liked the look of them and bought a further one for himself.
Since opening them at christmas we have found they are completely useless. The battery life lasts at the most 30 minutes, it won't play video properly, apps are constantly forced to shutdown, and the touch screen is incredibly unresponsive.
I have emailed them and asked for a refund and that i will return them.
They told me they had a 14 day return policy and it was basically tough.
I emailed them back and mentione the 3 basics of the sales of goods act and that they do not match the item as described or suitablitity for purpose.
I've had another email back again basically saying tough and even claiming there can't be a problem with all 3.
These epads were £85 each, and not only that it now means my daughters haven't had a xmas present from my father as they are useless.
Can anyone please help me as we just want to return them and get my father his money back so he can then buy them something useful
thanks

i dont think you can do much at all really - there are rights for all good bought online - where you have 7 days to return it and cancel the transaction - unfortunately i think your father has learned the hard way that ' if something seems to good to be true - it usually is' - i think you have to be so carefull what you buy online these days especially if it is a cheaper version of something - and i Always try the item as soon as it turns up to just make sure it works etc - the only other hope is that he may of paid by paypal as they have a resolution centre that can be used to sort out just this sort of case? credit cards normally only help if the item is over £100 - that is £100 per item and not as a whole - your poor daughters n father - some horrible ruthless people out there that ruin it for others - take care

what is the exact make and model of the epad? it may be that there will be patches or some other software out which you can download and improve how they workDon't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0

He reviews tat, and has reviewed Hai-Pads, Wo-pads and other lame cash-ins for the ipad.
Basically, lots of chinese companies (it is mostly chinese) make tat that looks like it might be an ipad, or something somewhat competent, give it a resistive touch screen, some basic video codecs and enough processing power to eventually do whatever it's trying to do.
they give it a name that sounds like a well known product and then sell it to catalogue firms and general purveyors of tat, who then sell it for a price that seriously undercuts the big name competitor.
Next have started doing one of the pads under some other name.
I doubt you have any claim under SOGA or DSR because they were bought a while ago and aren't faulty. They're rubbish, but that's because a rubbish thing was bought. It's working as designed, but not as you'd hoped.0 -

Thing is... are the epads faulty or just crap? Because for £85 I'd expect little more than an oversized mobile phone with a resistive touch screen and a terrible battery.0 -
A Pig in a Poke!
One wants a Rolls Royce, but buys the mini. Then expects the mini to perform like the Rolls Royce.

The epad will probably have a processor running at 300Mhz (compared to 1Ghz for an Ipad) and probably only 256K RAM (again, an IPAD will be at least double this).
With this sort of specification and price, there is no way that it was ever going to much use for anything apart from sending the odd e-mail.
It would have been okay a few years ago before modern PC and computer tablet technology advanced to the level it is today, but compared with modern devices, it's prehistoric.
As you've found out, there is a good reason why it was only £85 compared to similar (better spec products) which retail at £400 to £500.0 -
No offence Freddie but folk who refer to themselves in the 3rd party always spook me! Like that bloke Assange .Freddie_Snowbits wrote: »A Pig in a Poke!
