Show him this forum too, as there is always someone around to answer a question should he have one.0

I agree with some previous posters. IF you have time before you start your new job try and plan/cook etc together.
Do you have time to write up shopping lists, recipes and create a folder if info for him. If you're travelling to your new job on public transport can you do this in that time??
Good luck - maybe the plans might have to slip for a few weeks to give him some learning time0 -
When I first joined I was a serial lurker but benefitted very much from this particular forum. It helped us through a tight time and also addressed a rampant case of consumerism. Well life changes and in the last six months after much calculating we worked out that itwas costing more for hubby to work than for him to stay at home.....chld care costs, fuel, convenience purchases stc.
Has anyone else made this decision and what has this been like for you?
My hubby has settled in well although it is difficult to be objective when giving advice and I feel at times like I have "lost" control of all the budgeting, household practices and domestic decisions!!!
Why are the baked beans on a different shelf????
On a positive having a new take on things has introduced some cost svings as I think I found it hard to break away from "culure and tradition"
Does anyone have any comments or suggestions as to how to quickly train up a husband to implement and action all those old style money saving techniques.:A:A:A
Just as an aside this has been a real positive in our relationship as whilst slightly worse off financially, it is as a result of a joint decision so therefore no blame seeking just a collaberative approach to managing money and for the first time he is really on board as he understands the household better !!
Are there any other house husbands regularly on the forum that I can point him towards....might give him a bit of extra support.....Hello Payday! How are. . Hey where are you going? . . Please don't walk out on me.

I think he needs to join the forum and read through some of the threads for ideas; if there's anything in particular he wants to look at we can find the links for him
I can understand it's hard for you to relinquish control and allow him to do this in his own way... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

My Husband let me control everything. Recently however, he has found a forum similar this one... and suddenly he is on board and we make joint decisions about money.
He realises that when I say no, it means no. He also stops me from spending and we both consult each other when something needs to be bought.
He understands how time consuming managing a tight budget is... and does the housework while get on and 'budget'!
So I think it would be really important that he joins some sort of frugal or money saving community.
The one my Husband likes is all about the frugal millionaire... made him realise that keeping up with the Jones' is how you get poor!
It works for usWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Would you be kind enough to post a link for the frugal millionaire forum please?
Thank you:D

PMSL... I have a house and I have a husband but they don't interchange! How do I get mine to do this? You must have a secret!
Seriously though, if I should ever have a child of my own, I would have no choice but to go back to work pretty soon after the baby is born because we just wouldn't survive... he would have to become the house husband!0 -
himself has excelled himself today with the creation of some fab barbeque ribs.....and he found the recipe on line.....just a few more days folks and he will be joining you on the forum. Incidently we eventually got him on face book by starting a group called "get GG on facebook" and the drip drip effect did work .I know eventually I will get him on board.
I think the fly lady thread would benefit him greatly as he struggles with any semblence of planning and seems to be reactive in his approach to house work at the moment........brace yourselves for himselfs presence very soon.Hello Payday! How are. . Hey where are you going? . . Please don't walk out on me.

The flylady thread can cope... there are a few men who drop in and out. Whether he can cope with the flyladies is another matter entirely
:rotfl: I've found another thread with more tips, so I'll merge this so that you can have a browse.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
