help with my mobile please

Hi all, hope everyone has had a great christmas holiday!
my problem - my SONY ERICSSON T700
basically it has decided to become unfriendly, it will not send or receive messages and when i put it on to charge comes up with
SERIOUS ERROR. STOP CHARGING. STOP USING YOUR PHONE AND CONTACT A SONY ERICSSON CALL CENTER.
this message also comes up without the stop charging bit when i try to use the phone

With a message like that it sounds as though something might have gone wrong with the battery management circuitry - this could be a problem as Lithium based batteries can be quite dangerous if overcharged. I suggest you follow the advice and call sony. It might be a good idea to remove the phones battery too - if it starts to swell up put it outside.

any idea if it would help if i just let it 'uncharge'?
i have unlocked the phone from its original network and i have had it longer than a year so not sure if sony would expect me to pay for advice from them - also would love if anyone has a phone number for them please

That might work - how much charge do you think is in the battery?

the battery is showing full
i left it charging overnight whilst i was away and the error started after that (it was showing when i picked up the phone)

Updating the phones firmware seems to do the trick for some people.

i read a few of the posts from the link and cannot find a positive result, thinking of giving up hope now

can i clarify (sorry) i download this onto my laptop and then connect it to my mobile?

will be back online later with an update (wish me luck!) after i find my sony ericsson original box with the usb cable!!!!!!!

Yeah, thats about the size of it - good luck.

If you connect the mobile to the computer. Go on the website there should be a software update on there which you can download. Alternatively why not treat yourself to a new mobile? No better time to buy one!
