EDF bills are confusing they put your balance as - then whatever figure. With most companies you would think you are in debit to them but with edf it means you are in credit.

With my last bill they gave me the option of signing up to their energy dicount plan v4 which means you pay 2.5% below their normal tarriff fixed till summer 2012 I think. Seemed a good idea so I signed up. You can apply for it online

Is it the same as the online saver version 7 thing then. That was mentioned on the bill but to be honest I couldnt tell if this has had any saving on my charges?

I think whether it's a big bill or not obviously depends on your usual bills. My usual gas and electric bill for 3 months is £75 in total - so if just my gas was that, I would think it was a big bill!

As stated by others this is not a bill or a demand for £75 its a statement if you are only using very little in the summer like me, all I have is a gas fire and cooker, then your payments will cover this. What they will do next is try and increase your direct debit payments, they did that with me last year from £15 a month to £18, I contacted them last month as I was £89 in credit and its now dropped to £9 a month. If you are struggling for money like myself any increase in a DD is worrying, financial difficulties between 93 & 98 taught me there's only two bills you need to worry about that's mortgage/rent and taxes everything else can be manipulated.

  • Compared to others I know that my bill is low. But it isnt too me. It sends me into orbit worrying about my energy consumption, my bank, my bills, taxes, petrol et al. So when that landed I nearly had a fit and could feel the blood draining from my head!! So thank you Pothole, Brighthair and Norman Castle etc for your advice and help - it was and is soo appreciated. It is also comforting to know that there are ppl out there who are just as busted as me and that every penny does count. Talking of which - ratched under cushions on sofa and got 42p - whooppeee!

Hope you all have a good year and thanks for your support...

Must be nice to get a £75 quarterly bill in winter!

I put my meter readings in monthly (pay by variable DD) and the month of November came out at nearly £70 for the month (Gas).

In summer it was about £10 on average (hot water and gas hob).

I expected that it was going to be ugly bills wise as a) my wife and toddler are at home a lot and b) when it gets to -12C the heating has to work hard.

I really feel for people that don't keep track of what things really cost.

I see a large raft of "my god is this bill correct" come March next year when DD's haven't covered the short fall.

My summer qtr bill was £57, give my monthly reading for decmeber, well mysmartmeter was not far out, BG have sent me a bill for £156 YES FOR A MONTH! :o
