British Gas Price rises
Options
I am on BG Websaver 8 and received an email notifying me of the price rise taking place on 10 December.
So, on 10 December I took meter readings for gas and electricity and submitted them online. A few days late I received an email saying that my bill was ready to view. This showed an estimated reading made on the 9th December and my actual reading on the 10th.
Gas consumed from the previous reading to the estimated reading was charged at the old rate. Gas supposedly consumed during the one day from 9th to 10th was charged at the new rate. Not only that, it was charged at the higher rate for the first 125kWh.
I would have thought that a price rise affects the consumption from the day it takes place. By billing me in the way they have I am being charged the new rate for consumption before the price rise.
Do other energy suppliers do the same?
